Using more than one camera for conference filming will add significant production value to your final video, whether it is a live to screen event, live streaming or for video-on-demand sites such as YouTube or Vimeo. Using multiple cameras will help engage and entertain by introducing more variety to the content, only the best footage will be seen by the viewer, with most camera movements and focusing avoided in a live scenario or removed completely during any editing after the event.

Generally the more cameras we use better to finished video will look, obviously as you more kit and technical crew the cost will increase slightly, however the results will make it worthwhile. Usually for conference filming we recommend 1, 2 or 3 cameras, often mixed with a feed of any PowerPoint or Keynote slides, this produces dynamic, high quality conference video content.

  1. Camera Shoot. The most economical way to cover an event, the final content will shot safe and fairly static all camera zooms and movement will be in the final video, however our operator will be aware of this and ensure all camera movements are as steady and as smooth as possible.
  2. 2 Camera Shoot. Allows for more creativity in the live mix or edit suite, one camera will cover close-up shots of your presenters whilst camera 2 will be at a wider angle to give a overview of what’s happening on stage, shot from the back or side of the conference room and framing part of the audience in the shot will help the viewer get a real feel of what it was like to be at the event. Camera 2 can be ‘locked-off’ and unmanned, this will help keep the costs down but still allow for good visual variety when cutting between the two cameras.

  3. 3 Camera Shoot. As with a 2 camera shoot, camera 1 will cover the presenter and camera 2 will cover the wide angle. Camera 3 will usually be positioned towards the front of the room to cover tighter presenter angles, any panel or close-up stage details and reverse shots of the audience, particularly useful for Q&A sessions or any audience participation.
